Days ahead of twins Alexander and Ella’s first birthday, proud parents George and Amal Clooney escaped to one of their go-to getaway locales: Italy.

The Clooneys wed in Venice nearly four years ago, in September 2014. The pair also owns a home in Northern Italy’s Lake Como—which is just a total dump, I mean look at this garbage heap:

Anyway, the dynamic actor-lawyer duo is spending the first days of June far away from the flashbulb glare of Hollywood—though somehow, the paparazzi did manage to find them. George and Amal were photographed sharing a romantic scooter ride through Sardinia over the weekend, and were later spotted heading to dinner (hand-in-hand, natch) on Monday evening.

Amal, 40, wore a vividly patterned mock turtleneck maxidress on her way to the restaurant, pairing the statement piece with beige crisscross sandals with a chunky heel and a small bright red clutch. George, 57, looked casual yet dapper by his wife’s side in a navy polo shirt, pencil-striped baby blue slacks, and a set of gray suede loafers.
